What a day! If you were able to join us on for our 8th Annual (and largest ever!) Capital Coaches Conference on June 2nd, I trust you found opportunities to explore, engage, embrace, and energize. Not to mention sing, laugh, cry, hug, reflect, debate, ponder … the list goes on and on. Dr. Howard Thurman said: “Don't ask yourself what the world needs. Ask yourself what makes you come alive and then go do that. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.” The conference was an opportunity for more than 300 coaches from the Metro DC area and beyond to reconnect in a big way with what makes them come alive. What a day of aliveness it was. Our thanks go out to Claude Stein, Nic Askew, and Jeffrey Schwartz for helping us immerse so deeply in the science and soul of coaching, and for stimulating us through their artistry and wisdom. Thanks, too, to the many presenters of elective seminars, who brought us such an excellent and diverse array of opportunities to learn and grow. Our gratitude goes out to our generous sponsors -- Education Sponsor George Mason University Center for Consciousness and Transformation, as well as Tilt, Inc., Bold Business Works, and New Ventures West -- who helped in such a critical way to make the day possible. And we thank the many vendors in our exhibit hall, who provided us with such an interesting array of resources to support the work that we all do. We took advantage of ICF Global President Ed Modell's membership in our local chapter through a warm and interesting talk he gave over lunch. Thank you, Ed. And, congratulations to Rythee Jones, the recipient of the annual President's Award -- this year given in memory of Diane Hetherington -- for all of the marvelous contributions Rythee has made to our chapter in recent years. Finally, thanks once again to Bryan Wintersteen and Tya Bolton, our chair and event manager, respectively; to committee chairs Virginia Cutchin, Annette Hurley, Marisol Rodriguez, Todd Dallanegra, and Johnny Tatum; to all of the members of our Board; and to all of the dedicated volunteers who gave so much time and energy to this event. I truly hope the day was as stimulating and beneficial for you as I know it was for me. See you next year! Steve Heller, PCC |
