What Our President Does
The president is accountable for the overall leadership of the ICF Metro DC chapter. Responsibilities include developing programs, executing plans and assignments, and ensuring that the chartered chapter fulfills its obligations to the ICF. The president is familiar with the policies and procedures of the ICF, with the chapter's bylaws, and with the duties of all the other officers and committee chairpersons.
The president’s ongoing responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Work to establish the vision/mission statement for the chapter along with the members of the board.
- Develop and set the strategy with the members of the board for the chapter on a yearly basis, including projects; subcommittee formation etc.
- Work closely with the president-elect on skill and leadership development to ensure the successful transition to the next president.
- Work closely with ICF Global to ensure awareness of any policy or procedure changes. Acquire the necessary resources or support from the parent organization.
- Ensure the Metro DC Chapter is represented at ICF global conference.
- Serve as the final deciding vote in a tie-breaker situation.
- Preside over all meetings.
- Sign checks in absence of the treasurer.
- Make all required appointments of standing and special committees.
- Ensure communications regarding activities to the local membership via a newsletter, e-mail, etc.
- Plan a budget with the treasurer to be reviewed and approved by the members of the Board.
- Set audit procedures in motion at year end for financial records turnover.
