Biography
I serve people as a professional coach via Zoom meetings. My career prior to coaching included over 40 years of leadership and management experience in the military, in non-profits, and in the private sector. I want to contnue to serve people by helping them discover greater joy and success in their careers, their personal lives, and as leaders within their organizations. This is really great work because it has often involved helping people to find success in areas that have eluded them in the past. The result is that they have less stress, they make a bigger positive impact on the things that matter most to them, and they experience life to the fullest! I have a particular interest in helping people realize their leadership potential, but have helped clients in other areas of their lives as well.
I got involved in coaching because as I shared my "retirement" plans with the CEO of my last full time employer in early 2022, he encouraged me to continue in a consulting role to coach young, high potential professionals and to continue interacting with members of the senior leadership team. Shortly after I began in that role, I learned that I could become certified as a coach. I enjoy it so much, that I am vigorously pursuing higher and higher levels of credentialing and ways to keep learning from many great mentors in the coaching community. I currently have a certification from the Center for Christian Coaching, and am on track to receive my initial certification from ICF sometime in Q1/Q2 of 2024.
How do I coach? By listening intently to my clients to hear their biggest hopes and dreams, I help them discover ways to get their habits, attitudes and actions to truly line up with what is most precious to them. I use my project and program management experience to help people to break down their own big plans into highly do-able action steps, help them to identify and overcome obstacles, and support them in acheiving each milestone toward their eventual and ultimate triumph. As appropriate and with my clients' permission, I may occasionally share suggestions of my own in the role of a mentor or consultant. I have successfully applied my coaching process to both professional or personal concerns. Coaching works well across a broad range of human aspiration, because the "process" can and should be tailored to each unique person.
